Im a sucker for deals!

I bought the Sigma 12-24. I was a little hesitant because im not in dire need for a WA (I know its UWA) but to me its only 5mm UWiderAngle.

Other than the tests I took at the store, I have not used it yet.

Happy to answer questions and the like.

On the ultra wide side, 5mm is huge!

Why didn't you go for a Sigma 10-20 or a Canon EF-S 10-22 instead?... ???

Farrukh, nhay, from Salam Studios. Ya surprising huh? MK had it at 2,300.

Ruffio, what aperture do you use it at ? f/8? f/11?

ed Rader, I do! Why? haha

argp, I had the Sigma 10-20, it was nice but it vignetting till about 14mm on my 1dmkII, some distortion and it was not quite as sharp as the 17-40 L. The EF-S wont fit my camera (I have a 1dmkII).

I often use great depth of field; with foreground elements inches away, I usually close down between f/16 and f/22.

Do you not worry about diffraction at apertures narrower than f/11?

There's a definite tradeoff. However, I can usually use the added depth of field a little more than the added sharpness.

condyk, wow nice to see you again! Its been a while.

Ruffio, how much DoF do you gain by stopping down from say f/11 to f/16 if focus is at infiniti or close to it.

I thought MK is the only authorized Sigma dealer in the UAE

It's an incrimental gain. I find it does help me when I am trying to capture a foreground element very close to the lens, and infinity on the far end.

farrukh, Salam Studios and MK trading are bother authorised resellers in the UAE.

Ruffio, I guess ill test it out later but then I would need to replicate a scenario where focus would be at infiniti or close to that and some subjects are within 5 meters and then test apertures of f/8 to f/16.
