You can only surmise that the "modern" methods of construction are such that those upper levels are in effect non structural outwards of the central core which likely goes through to the very top of the buidling. Though looking at the cross members it does not immediately appear to be the case

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

I consult in construction management ... and I don't get it. Whatever they are trying to achieve it seems like an expensive way to get there.

There is a pretty cool view from Leadenhall Street, looking over to the Gherkin but I was there midday, and so got midday-itus with my shots when shooting the sky :-)

Also, try a pano from down St Marys Axe, with Lloyds building on the left.

Watch out for the weather :-)

I'm sure I've seen it waver with some strong winds but didn't hang around for too long :-)

Anyone noticed the new blue building at the top of Gracechurch Street?

There are so many cranes around in the City area and so many new buildings appearing. Can't wait for the Shard to appear.

Cheers rammy, ill give them a go if i get down there.
Its only about 20mins walk from home but its getting off my ass and doing it.
Was thinking of going back to see the guitars on the south bank ( posted some of them in another thread) with my new 85mm f/1.8 so might do both in one evening if the weather holds out.
Ive not been through the city are for a while but last time i looked up it was all cranes.

Looking forward to more pictures.

2 Samuel 9:7-8, "So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.” Then he bowed himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look upon such a dead dog as I?”
