10:30pm PST, and I've added quite a bit more to the review.

Jerry, many stores have it in stock. Beach, BuyDig, 17th St, NormanCamera, TriState, Sigma4Less, and Amazon all have it currently. Just FYI.

Compared to the Canon 17-55 and 70-200, it's not bad, considering this is a 10+ times zoom.

Awsome review!
I can't wait for the crops and full size images to come out.

Question #1:
http://www.pbase.com/lightrules/image/81392060 (external link) - is that a crop or a resized image?

Question #2:
Interesting signature and avatar ... care to elaborate ? ;)

Thanks for putting the effort,

Erez

Hey Jojo, that should work on a Mark II shouldn't it? I'd imagine it won't vignette since the 10-20 doesn't after about 12mm.

Yeh Mike, it'll physically mount to any body. I don't know where it'll vignette on either 1.3x or FF bodies, but it'll work. :)

Jojo, any chance for a test shot with a 1.4 tc ?
according to this (external link) the nikon 18-200vr handles them reasonably, would be interesting to find out how this lens fares in comparison....

I got this lens last week and have not used it much yet.

My one issue so far is the zoom mechanism is nice as long as you keep moving at a decent rate. In the 50-80mm range it tends to be pretty sticky and "pushing" through it can feel very hard. If I back off a bit and then a "moving start" it goes smoothly through the range.

Sorry I don't have any pictures to post (not like you really want to see the window screens I tested on and gave myself a headache looking at :) ). I took some flash pictures of the window screen and compared it to my 70-200 f4L IS with the same settings and IS/OS on. They both looked pretty good, but the corners were not as sharp on the Sigma. The squares were bigger at "200" on the 70-200, but not by much.

I am not an expert though, just my $0.02.

We're talking about a 280mm f9 lens now

I'll appease you and try to test it out and report back later. Don't expect too much. AF will probably be an issue too. But we'll see.

This will show what the non OS version does on my 1D2n, it's at 88 mm, and you need to get past there for clean corners.

Forget about it on a FF body, like shooting through a pipe.

well the 3 stops will help at least a little bit there...

3 stops? I can do 3 stops in my sleep, or when waiving bye to friends. With decent breathing and practice and patience and allowing the OS to optimize (1 second after pressing shutter halfway), 4-5 stops is more like it. Here's a 100% center crop at almost 5 stops gain (320mm FOV, f6.3 wide open, 1/15th) :D

Ya know, I really, really hate you. You do a better job at separating me from my money than women do...

You know what, Tony. At some point, we folks really need to take responsibility for our choices and actions and simply own up to the fact that, well, we're just not very good lovers. Don't hate the player, hate the game! :D

This photo business is like a mistress, except my wife is ok with her (well, except for the money). :)

I'm hoping to recoup some of my loss. If I can only get rid of the 28-105 and the non-OS 18-200, I'll be in pretty good shape.
