[@Rovers_Andy] :: They have a "weird" haze ? Over-exposed ? Fog ? OOF? I can't nail it, but the IQ is not the one the 400f/2.8 IS is known for.
I see that in sports and wildlife (same thing?) sometimes. I think it is a combination of the angle and harshness of the light, plus, at times, haze in the air.
In any case, I make that go away with two tools:
- Set blacks level in Camera Raw, and
- Local contrast pass USM in CS3
I must say if the 400 f/2.8 did not weigh so much, I surely would own it instead of the 400 f/4 DO.
