Hi,

I am in need of a photo archival / processing / etc.. tool. I've been waiting to see what the LR 1.1 release was bringing, it looks like a decent update. I've also tried the LR demo and, although occasional slow, i found it quite pleasant to use :)

But am i missing anything ?
I've tried DPP - its ok, usable, but thats about it :)
Also tried Bibble - Found it slightly confusing, though it could just be buggy ? I use a fair range of graphics software and its not very often i find one that makes me close it in desperation ;) I had a quick read of their forums, are later builds more stable / bug free ? (Have to say i quite liked the expandable / plugin architecture though. Some of the included elements like noise ninja looked good also)

Are there any other packages i should be looking at ? (windows based)
At the moment i'm probably heading towards LR, anyone have stong feelings why that would be a mistake ?

Thanks for the input :)

I have tried:
LR
Bibble
DPP
Bridge

Lightroom blows them all away IMHO. I love how easy it is to organize and it is very easy to use and fast.

I have tried most of them but i do like Lightroom best as a general management/raw converter/light editing tool.

The post is entitled Lightroom or ?

OK, I'm biased in favour of LR. Is there an "or" for the PC?

I am mostly a Lightroom user.

The only thing that sucks about lightroom is the file management system, it can be pretty frustrating sometimes

I use ThumbsPlus from Cerious Software (external link). I have thousands of images tagged, organized, and keyworded with ThumbsPlus. I have no desire to go back and do it all over again by changing DAM programs for a few bells and whistles. Also, ThumbsPlus is a more mature program in terms of development over an offering like LR. ThumbsPlus has no problem understanding to concept of offline storage media (removable HDs, CD/DVD, etc.) and tracking changes involving such media. Cerious usually updates ThumbsPlus as fast, if not faster, than Adobe for new cameras and their RAW files. I just don't need the LR package with it's limited editing capabilities when I already have ThumbsPlus as a more powerful organizer and just pass files onto ACR and Photoshop with superior editing and creative capabilities.
