OK - Just clicked the 'If the wife finds out how much it really cost, she'll kill me' Button and ordered myself a Canon 135L f/2

It will obviously make me a better photographer  , cos every shot I ever see taken with it just rockz!

Hopefully tomorrow (before 12:30!) i'll be takin' loads of 'minimum dof' shots of 'things' around the house (This will probably involve the new kitty  )

If I can hold myself back sufficiently, I will take some 'opening box/bag' shots, but I may not be able to contain myself long enough for this - I will obviously have to take them with another (inferior) lens...

Now all I have to do is convince 'her' that it only cost £300

'Congrats' on the newspaper sando! :D The tea was a pretty good bargain, considering you bought it at a railway station.

Oh... enjoy the 30D ;)

Please hold yourself back: there are people relying on yer opening ceremony here. I am getting withdrawl symptoms as I aint bought owt hardly for a while. Today, Tuna sandwich and orange juice is all.

Excellent purchasing. Together they are a formidable combo. I prefer The Guardian and coffee myself, but I am older and wiser ... and also need the caffiene to get me up in the mornings

Yes, England is a civilised country and such services are common place. One registers with a shop and then clicky-click your way to grub paradise. Some spotty youth then delivers at the appointed hour and if he is late I bag £10 bonus. Works well and means I don't have to waste my valuable time touring the aisles. Of course, my various shops and favourites are saved so even easier the next time to order. It's a winner :)

So, Uncle Kev., what is the latest update on the 135mm purchase. It arrived? I am also awaiting with some excitment a report from John Boy re his kinky lighting set up and MC Jakie re his Eye-One.

Sorry about the reoccurance of that ailment. It is stubborn isn't it. Maybe get the wife to apply the ointment this time as she can probably penetrate deeper.

No light reflectors yet - but I splashed out yesterday and put 20 cents in a parking meter.

I ordered some heavy duty zip locks for our Africa trip (thanks for the reminder, Dave!) and a hanging toiletry kit.

I suppose I'll have to actually take some pics with it now :-)

These taken with my 24-105L at ISO800! (don't ask... I was so excited I forgot to check  )

EDIT: - Have just done some pretty basic tests and WOW! is this thing sharp, focus seems bang-on as well!

Excellent purchase ... I am finding them a boon. I may store my whole life in them ... will need to buy different sized ones tho. The value of this thread is now emerging.

Excellent stripper show Kev and jolly sweet lens thingy. It is one of my very favourites tho' never owned. I'd never use it to be honest, but for the right chap, maybe one with horsey needs, it will be a bonus. A 7dayshop purchase by the looks of it.

Yep 7dayshop, cheapest UK price I could find. I could have gone to HK & saved a bit, but I was a bit nervous about spending so much, so far away! - At least I can get the 'fast-craft' to Guernsey and 'bang on their door' if I have to :-)
I've sent the odd thing back to them in the past and it's been no problem so I trust em'.

I'ts going to be mainly used for horsey shots. I'ts quite a compact(ish) lens (until you put the hood on!) compared to my Siggy 70-200, and most of my event stuff is around the 135-200mm mark so may try to use it for this (may have to get closer, but that's not usually an issue for me). Sometimes you need the zoom tho'...

The IQ is stunning in the (boring garden) shots I've taken so far.
I'm going to make a point of using it for lots of other things if I can, if only to get my moneys worth!

I'll have to get out at the weekend and give a it a good 'running-in' :D
