Sigma flash and Canon ST-E2 transmitter compatability

I was wondering if anyone out there knows if I can use my old Sigma EF 430ST flash as a second strobe flash. I saw a small video from Jacob the photographer where he used two flashes together one with a cord, and the other was remote fired on a seperate stand. I sure would like to know this before I buy the 200.00 canon transmitter. thanks for any help

I can't tell you that the ST-E2 transmitter will work, but I assume that it would because, I have used a Canon flash to remotely pop a Sigma flash.

I think jacob was using 2 canon flashes (one 580 as master, and another maybe 430 as slave) and an off camera cord. All this stuff was made to work together. If you throw in a third party flash, you might not get the result your looking for.

The st-e2 is great, but I also have the canon flashes to go along with it. I use a Vivitar 285 too, but I have to attach an optical slave to get it to fire.

I don't think the 430St can even be used in wireless slave mode, but I may be wrong.

I also don't think the ST-E2 works with Sigma flashes.

I know two Sigma 500 Supers will work wirelessly together, either using the off camera-2 cord (from Canon or Promaster) or with one on camera and one off.

maybe my reply wasn't clear. I have triggered a Sigma 500 super with a Canon 550ex before and vice versa. I assume that the ST-E2 has the same or similar transmitter that the 550ex does; therefore, I assume that it will fire a sigma flash.
