Well, I waited until B&H opened today to place my order, thinking they price match other stores. The wouldn't. I asked why and was told that "Sometimes, we don't if we think the item is not in stock or if the price is wrong." Well, the website, www.theimagingworld.com (external link) clearly has the item marked at $1379 and lists the status as "In stock". When I mentioned that, he said, "Yah...I don't know why, but it's too cheap."

I wanted to buy the 16-35mm II. It's only $1379 at Imaging World but $1449 at B&H!

Can anyone tell me if they've had a good or bad experience with this vendor? I haven't heard of them before, but I haven't been totally happy with B&H either, so I'm more than happy to try a new vendor.

Thanks.

They have a decent all time rating, although only from 5 users.

I can understand B&H's scepticism - a lot of shops claiming to be based in Brooklyn are scams with ultra-cheap prices, that only send you the item if you pay the rest in buying batteries and memory cards that should of been part of the package.

I'd eat the price difference for the peace of mind from B&H.

If you haven't already used the shop.com promo then try there.

At the moment Adorama is the only store selling it through them and the price works out to $1295.10 with the 10% back deal.

Is it really worth the risk just to save $70 on a $1449 purchase (less than 5%)? With that much money on the line, I'd want to be sure I wouldn't have any trouble at all. As was said before, Imaging World doesn't have a terrible lifetime rating at ResellerRatings, but they only have a total of 5 reviews. Every single one of the mail-order outfits that are consistently reported to be reliable has about the same price for the lens (~$1450).

Did you decide since your other thread to step up from the 5-7 day shipping? If not, you might not want to order from B&H or Imaging World or elsewhere in NY anyway, since you very likely won't get it in time. Canoga Camera is located in LA, and ground shipping from LA to Oregon supposedly only takes 3 days. They've got the same price as B&H for that lens, though.

i think the fact that you yourself are skeptical of buying from this place is validation of B&H not wanting to price-match. just because a company has a P&M policy they are not obligated to PM all the time, it is at their discretion as a business.

$60 !?!?!

For the security and reliability of B&H you dont want to pay a little extra cash?

I sure wouldnt hesitate at that price....

Considering what you will pay in Canada to get it here, $60 is just so not worth it.

What are the shipping charges at imaging world? What is their restocking fee if it's soft? What do they charge to export? Do they chrage an international CC fee?

Buy from B&H and you don't get nailed like other vendors like to do when they KNOW you are calling from Canada.

This is a rebrand of the camweis site.

I'd avoid this vendor.

Try beachcamera.com or buydig.com - they have the lens for a little cheaper than B&H and they are JUST as reliable of a supplier as B&H is in my book. They also have free shipping options for this lens on either site - cheapest shipping you are going to get at B&H is about $13.00.

It's not just B&H and the rest are a bunch of scammers by any means....you can buy with confidence at any number of online retailers.

Buy from B&H. Your cost saving of a few dollars is not worth the potential future headaches.

No headaches whatsoever to be found with either of the two online retailers that I mentioned in my post. They are on par with B&H.

What B&H does is perfectly legit...if they pricematched every scam, bait&switch store out there selling 5d's for 400$, they would be out of business long ago.

Why does everybody list their gear here?

my advice is to call the people up at imaging world.com and ask them if it is a US model for the $1379 or is it an import model? I too price-shopped when I took the plunge and bought my digital camera....after all when you're spending a thousand bucks you want to try to get the best deal you can right?! I called B&H and they wouldn't price-match either, so I called up the place with the lower price (I forget who it was now) and went all the way thru on placing the order to find out it was for an import model (which they did not state in any print ads nor on their website), so I cancelled the order and ended up placing the order with B&H. I will probably not shop with many other vendors other than B&H just for piece of mind. Many of these companies tend to be a hair shady on the fine points, please keep that in mind. However, if it doesn't matter to you if it's a US model or an import model, then that may be the reason for the lower price.

B&H is not know for price matching.
I found that Adorama will at least try to match B&H prices though.
I went there twice and managed to get them to match B&H prices.

B&H will honor their online codes though. I took a printout to them with the discounted price, and they honored it.
