Interesting band. Saw them once and it wasn't too bad but never had the chance to photograph them till recently but not sure if I'm up to it. The location they are playing at near me likes red. lots and lots of red lights.

why do small places use lots of red in their light?

No idea, but most of the time it is up to the band what colour lighting they want. Though I agree with most small venues love red lighting, though I have one near where I live that has that awful purple lighting.

my list is dwindling....i've gotten a few icons out of the way recently but still have these people in my sights:

John Zorn
Elvis Costello
Electric Wizard
Keiji Haino
The Rolling Stones (even though they are far past their sell-by date)

Scratch John Zorn off that list.

Guess it has something to do with a photo release

no... i shot Zorn this weekend at Newport Jazz Fest.

of the other two times I've seen him, the first had some ridiculous union buyout clause that i refused to agree to (they wanted something like 2K to shoot him, as it was a union house and apparently the teamsters want any piece of the action), and the 2nd time it was at an art museum w/ no photo passes issued.

the shooting wasn't super easy (no photo pit access, and you could only shoot from the extreme sides), but the security guy told me he wouldn't stop me if i shot from a seat, so i found a good spot and had at it.

btw i ran into Zorn after the show, talked w/ him for a bit and asked for a quick photo and an even quicker "no photos" reply came back my way.

I could go on all day, I'm sure, but it I were to narrow it down to three, I'd like to shoot the following (in order):

Foo Fighters
Crosby, Stills & Nash
Sting

Back in the day Jimmy Page made a great picture. The guy wore some nice duds. Saw him twice in '88 and all his clothes were silk and tailored. I guess Jimi Hendrix would have been the pinnacle for RNR photography.

Lady Gaga, not that I like the music but I shot her from the nose bleed seats a couple years back and the stage setups were outrageous and I would have loved to have been able to get up close.

Shot Alice Cooper a couple times and that was great too because of all the costumes and theatrics.
