Hey All,

I rode out to Joshua Tree EARLY this morning to try to catch some morning light. Ended up with 3 more images to add to my trip from last weekend. Hope you enjoy :)

Great shots! Both sets are superb.

I will be there Sunday, July 15 in the afternoon. I land in Ontario at 11:00AM and will come more+or-less straight out. Do you have any specific afternoon locations to recommend? Or, sunset spots? I just ordered some Lee GND Filtersand want to try them out.

I know it will be hot but I can carry water. With my time so limited, I would appreciate any ideas.

Thanks! Glad you like!

The northwest side of the park is the best in my opinion, you'll find the majority of the rock structures there. Cap Rock, Jumbo Rock, Intersetcion Rock, and Skull Rock provide a lot of shooting opportunities right from the car. The ride to Keys View will be worth it also, being at a higher elevation you should be able to cool off a bit too. Sunset might be best from anywhere around Cap Rock and Intersection Rock.

Be careful around Jumbo Rock if you go. There are bees everywhere!

I'd take your time in getting there, the light won't be that great until after maybe 3-4. Swing by a grocery/convenience store and get more water than you think you'll drink, some sports drinks, lunch/snacks. You burn up food/water at a suprising rate out there. It was 100 degrees at 11:00 am last Sunday, from 65 degrees at sunrise. Don't underestimate the desert! Go for the SPF 50 sunscreen too!

Let me know if I can give you any more tips, I'd be glad to.

Great set. #3 stands out as the best, to me...

I like the third, but I feel that those trees need to be against a sky for full visual impact

Don, Cubix, George - thanks! I appreciate it! George, there's much better sky detail in the full set with the photos taken the weekend before. There just wasn't as much in the sky on this last trip, for me at least :-)

Jubilee, hope you have fun. Let me know how the Lee filter kit works for you, it's the next item on my 'get list'!
