Went down to the Gold Coast (QLD, Australia) this weekend with the family because dad always runs in either the half or full marathon each year. He did the half this year and I thought I'd snap a few pics while I was down there so here they are:

The three front runners (number 7, from Tanzania, took the out the win in 1:03.00):

A couple of the wheelies:

And a couple of dogs, both small and large (yeah, I know they're not really sport but thought I'd through them in anyway)

Excellent photos Nick, I had no idea how huge an event it is, I had to tow a promotional trailer to the event for my eldest son who works for Soul( the phone mob) he told me there was 16200 competitors, Thats massive.

Wow, excellent images Nick. Just so clear and great use of DoF, obviously the new body is going well, what lens were you using?

Thanks, Feng. Yeah, I think they may have recruited some characters from Dreamworld. There were a few there entertaining the crowd - Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, etc.

Thanks, Andrew. It certainly is popular. If you want to book a place down there for the weekend it's usually best to do so nearly 12 months in advance. Even then, the more popular places can be booked out.

Cheers, Greg. Actually, I think those infamous focus issues may be something for me to look at. Quite a few of the shots (dare I say majority) seem to be slightly front focused. I'll have to play some more, and test the lens in one-shot focus, to make sure it's not just me or the glass.
Oh, and the 70-200 was the lens in question.

16,200 Competitors thats a lot of feet pounding the bitumen. You've got a good set of pictures. The new body is?

Thanks, khall.
That 16,000 is the total number of entrants in all 7 races run on the day. The half marathon usually has the biggest turn out and this year consisted of about 5000 starters. Still a lot of feet though!
The new body is my one week old, Mark III.
