Hi everybody,
I am a 15 year old who is new to photography (but love it just the same) but before i get into this forum i want to know if im right for it...and if not somebody could be so kind as to direct me to a forum which is better suiting for me.

~I have no professional photography training
~I have a Canon A640 Camera
~I Have 2 lenses (fisheye and macro)

Again I am a amateur and i just want a place where i can learn and gain constructive critisim by people who KNOW what there talking about.

Thanks,
Jön

I believe thats the only qualification you need :)

Just don't let the more single minded DSLR owners put you off, the A series compacts are very, very powerful little cameras in the right hands :)

So long and thanks for all the flash

I love my camera to death...its just what i want. Because yes its compact but it can still hold lenses and take very crisp pictures. I love taking to the city and stuff. My camera and music are my life. lol

i have both dslr and a series... both are good and i find myself wanting to take my smaller camera more than my big one for the portability issues.

Jon - this forum is full of skilled technicians/newbies, realists/dreamers, optomists/pessimists, well-mannered/"Blunt", gracious and ruthless people on the planet...there may even be a photographer or two. ;)

Who knows, one day you may be lending advice to an unsuspecting 15yr old who thinks they shouldn't be here.

Welcome to the forums Jon and enjoy!

Welcome too Jon, you are in EXACTLY the right place..

Expensive equipment does not a great photographer make.. Unfortunately most of us hope it does!

EDIT: Looked at your gallery.. you have a pretty good eye ;)

Hey Jon,

A good photographer can take amazing photos with nearly any camera regardless of the situation. Tiger Woods would still be Tiger Woods if he had a $199 golf set and driving range balls and I'd still suck at golf if I had his pro clubs.

Welcome to the forum and remember that critques and criticism may upset you at first but they are only there to help guide you to being better at your craft, sometimes you may disagree and don't be afraid to, but don't ever let it get you down, take the C&C and let the little voice use what it wants so next time you are shooting you hear things like "straight horizon" ... "use a fill flash" ... "don't clip the highlights" ... "don't drop your 70-300 IS USM on the hardwood floor and break it"

maybe that last one only applies to me...lol
