I currently have a rebel xt but I've come across some money and I am buying a new camera. If you had 10k would you buy the 1DMKIII or the 5D? Keep in mind I will need to buy a few lenses as well, one of which is the 70-3001.4.
I will be shooting portaits, urban architecture/landscapes, and paintball. From what I've read here the 5D would be excellent for the portraits and landscapes but the 1DMKIII would be the way to go for the paintball. Would the suffice for he paintball work or should I not even consider it. Obviously I can get either camera, I would just be able to buy more lenses if I went the 5D route.

I would think about a IIN. Lower price than the III. Pretty darn fast. Doesn't have the crop factor of the 5D and it's more expensive than the 5D, but it's a nice compromise between the two.

I did this and I am quite happy. You might even find a III buyer ready to dump a low use IIN for a good price.

No single camera is ideal for all subjects and situations. Whichever you go for, you'll need to adapt your technique.

I sold my 20D the other day and then went out to buy a 5D but was disappointed in the speed, I plan to return it this week.

I hope and only time will tell whether a 5D replacement is in the works. I am now camera less but I'd rather save my money and wait.

The 5D is already 2 years old.

I moved from an xt to the 20d about 3 months ago and I am so glad I did
