My daughter and I are working on getting some good sunset shots. Anyone have any opinions on these? Or which one do you like better and why?

I like the one on top. the way the sailboat is reflected draws the eye into the picture and into the sunset. I like the warmer tones of the sunset in the top one.

The bottom is a little too bright. I'd photoshop it to bring out the purples and magenta's.

The first one is the better shot. I love the colors and the peaceful feeling of it. I am not a big fan of sunset pictures with the sun actually in the shot. It is too distracting to me and tends to wash out the detail. I always think that a long exposure shot with the sun already set works much better. I like the compostion of shot one as well.

I like the first shot as well, pretty much for the peaceful feel and colors.

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p

Hi Phil

First one for me also.I think it also works well by chopping off the top third of the picture.

Cheers

Another vote for the 1st one. The sun is too distracting in the second, and spoils the mood. The colors in the 1st are very tranquil, nice shot.
