I knew I would have fun on this one when they requested light industrial pics.

1. Walking on a road in the middle of repair...

5. A pile of old, rotten railway ties. Perfect engagement backdrop!

6. And condemned buildings to add to the romance:

We also went to garbage strewn alleyways, a death trap of an apartment stairway, and a junkyard (which was locked and barbed wired so we couldn't get in unfortunately).

I had so much fun!

yeah, some shoots I hardly use flash at all, but this one I used flash a LOT. It was a hoot!

They are all fantastic but 5 and 6 really stand out to me! Great photos and what a neat location.

I love'em, especially #4 although I have to admit that having the couple in them almost spoils some of them for me because I think the locations are just awesome (note to self to find deserted trainyard/construction site for shooting). For #4, how did you light it? It looks like off camera right with the flash about 6 feet up shooting straight through the door onto the couple. Am I close?? It really lit them well and allowed for the sky to show up brillantly. Again, awesome shots.

...And I suppose if you want critique other than "awesome shots"...hmmm..ummm..on #5 watch the central composition. :)

Love it Lloyd!! I have an old train yard around here, I've used it a couple of times for engagement sessions and love it. I suggest it to all my couples, but only a couple of them have gone for it. I really wish I could convince people to leave the parks alone!! I'm getting sick of them :)

PS, did you use your 10-22 for alot of these shots? They look super wide, but cool.

Lloyd, awesome shots!

I see you use the PP you used on #1 quite a bit. What action is that?

Also, #2, is that the "Look of Lomo" action by Beau? I'm loving the sky in this shot!

I do wish though, for #6, you moved the couple 1 foot to the right so you could see the bride-to-be's lower half. She looks cut off. I love the PP on it.

You amaze us with your off-camera flash powers!

These are my kind of images, Lloyd! Those skies are just indescribably beautiful. And the conversion you've used is great. Looks almost like IR in that third one. I'm sure the couple will be pleased with them. :)

What I used for all the sepia toned shots is really basic, and all I used was Lightroom. I ran the sepia preset that comes with Lightroom. (I modified it so the toning wasn't as yellow as adobe made it) and then just adjusted the colour sliders until I got the look I want, and then adjusted the tone curve. This can all be done in photoshop too with the channel mixer, curves, and a sepia action like Kubota's chocolate syrup.

Actually, the yard is still quite active. A train engineer there would pull the train horn every time I got the couple to kiss. it was funny!

yup, pretty close. Though the light was around 7 feet (or as high as my wife could possibly reach) The machine was naturally well lit, but the couple were in the shade so you couldn't see them until I lit them up.

I hear ya. Most couples want beautiful shots, and not the rough edged type. You certainly need the right people to make it work. It seems like everyone chooses the same locations over and over!

As mentioned above, the sepia tones are Lightroom processing. Lightroom is awesome! No desire at all to go back to ACR.

#2 is curves and playing with the hue/saturation sliders in CS2.

Yup. 10-22 except 4 and 6 which was the 24-70. I love the 10-22!!

Yeah, I've been wanting to convert a camera to IR for a while now, but after getting lightroom and playing with it's amazing toning capabilities, I've lost interest!!!

Stunning! Love your work and your PP.

Tell me that I don't suck and that you are able to take these shots just because you have a Mk III :p!

That and 8 off-camera flashes LOL

Lloyd, how many off camera flashes do you usually bring for a shoot?
