I know I am just being impatient, but where the heck is a review of a Production S60? Everyone has reviews up that say they will give thier conclusion in June when a production version of the camera is available. Well? It's June 8th already - where are the reviews! :-)

I am given to believe the cameras are in stores already, why hasn't one of the online reviewers been given a production model to review?!?!?

S60 vs S50

Hi,
I'm looking at buying a good digital camera. I've been told that the Canon S50 is one of the best out there. I would like more than an entry level camera and had decided on the S50 when I saw a review of the S60 on www.cnet.com (external link).

Appreciate any advise from you guys/gals out there.

Thanks,
Steve

My opinion is that even the S50 is not really an entry level camera, it shoots RAW files and has too many "advanced" features to really be an entry-level camera. And it's too expensive to be entry level! :-)

But the S60 seems to address a few of the shortcomings of the S50, the new lens design is supposed to reduce the "purple fringing" or chromatic aberations, and the new battery is supposed to last much longer. Other tweaks are supposed to improve performance in terms of reduced time lag in various functions.

But we are all still waiting for a review of the S60, at least one where they will answer these questions.

Come on, you reviewers! :-) They're selling the camera now, can't you get one to review!?!?!

www.dcresource.com (external link) have just posted sample pics but full review won't be until late June.

Pics look excellent. A bit of purple fringing but tweaking the colours in PS gets rid of that easily enough.
