Help please... :(

I just recorded a simple action in PS CS 3. Three steps - Image Resize, Save and close.

I tested the action. It works perfectly.

Then I went to Bridge. Selected a File. Ran Tools/Photoshop/Image Processor. The new action is selected at the bottom of the Image Processor dialog box. Ran Image processor. It runs perfectly. The image has been resized and saved exactly as intended. EXCEPT I get this error message. WHY? If I select multiple images.. it still runs.. and yet I get the error message with multiple listing. A mystery.

Second, and even more annoying.. it saves in the wrong folder. I have "Save in same location" checked, yet when it runs, it puts it into an older folder. This wrong saving also happens only when using Image Processor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't need to use an action at all. Just select the files in bridge, choose photoshop services -> image processor, enter your maximum dimensions, and hit go. If you need a specific ppi set it in the RAW convertor (assuming the files are RAW).

If you really want to run your action you need to use the photoshop services -> batch, not image processor.

I suspect the problem with image processor is it's already opened the file then you try to do it again, or you save and close it then it tries to do it again.

Better yet, use Russell Brown's 123 Process from Bridge and set the ppi in its dialog.

Thanks. I was doing this to save the EXIF in my jpegs. For whatever reasons, I have been having trouble with that lately. Never did before. I will try your method and see if it works. I am sure it will! As for the Image Processor, I will check to see if it is "saving twice" ie: once in the action and once thru the processor...that might explain why the action works properly and the Image Processor throws the error message. Ain't technology wonderful?

Thank you for the link. It looks like that website is going to take some time to review, but worth the effort. One of these days I am going to learn Photoshop, and win the Nobel Prize on the same day! :D

Image processor retains exif, try what I suggested and see :)
