I've read the DPP manual and have gone over this function step by step and can't seem to save my edit with the stamp tool.

I open a RAW file then open the stamp tool and edit as instructed. When satisfied I select ok in the stamp tool window and it goes back to the image I was working on and no change. I reopen the stamp tool and the change is still there. I have even made an exagerated change to see if I'm just not seeing the subtle change... still doesn't seem to transfer to the image I'm working on or think I'm working on. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but it looks as though I need help in finding it.

Has anybody been down this road? I searched the site for the problem and found nothing.

Thanks in advance

HWP

Once you convert the RAW to JPEG it will apply the edits

edit: thanks for that email a while back, sorry I didn't reply.....

That messed me up the first time.

I just did the conversion (save to JPEG) just to see what would happen and lo and behold it 'took'.

I consider it a bug and hopefully they'll address it in the next update.

Guess the updates worked out for you

Why is it a bug? If you can see the changes in the tool and they are done to the conversion, why would you need to see them in the Edit window?

I think they didn't make it visible in the edit window to have faster preview.

The change is kept, just not visible in the Edit window. This annoys me too, as sometimes I'll have several similar shots - all keepers - with slightly different detail and I can't tell in the Edit window exactly what I've stamped.

I once had a band shoot (2 guys) where I spent hours clearing up one of the guys' facial acne on several of the shots. Checking what I had cleared and what I had left was a real pain.

But if this was deliberately left out of the Edit view for performance then fair play - opening up a RAW file for stamping on my laptop takes a while.

Thanks all,

It was driving me crazy. I'm glad it's not just me.

In most other edit functions in DPP the change is immediately visible on the "working" photo and, as such, the instruction manual should have at least stated this counter intuitive operation in the stamp tool if it's not a bug.

danpass, the updates did indeed work. And the stamp tool in DPP does a fine job of removing the facial pimples... now that I know how to save the fix.

No problem. I was just wondering if you got the email.

What lens do you use for those sports shots? I shure would love a 400mm IS L lens but I'm not ready to remortgage my house. Hopefully I can get some decent sports and wildlife shots with more affordable lenses.

Thanks

To make sure I didn't miss anything.

The only thing that shows you that the stamp tool has been applied (as opposed to not) is the stamp icon in the top right corner of the thumbnail. This for me is in the 'adequate' category though obviously doesn't solve the original issue here, and extra time opening the stamp tool to check exactly what has been stamped.
