Is there an action for this?

I recently shot a friend's wedding and they asked if I could give them the images in 5x7 format on a DVD.

I've just downloaded the TLR Crop Preset which works great one by one. But rather then going through it one by one, is there a way to run it in a batch and just do your selections then? This way I don't have to keep going File, Open, etc...

If anyone has any other action files I can use to easily and quickly crop it into 5x7.. plz do let me know. Thanks.

Crop to 5x7? It sounds to me like you are confusing resolution and dpi. Any pic with the proper aspect ratio can be made to print 5x7 simply by changing the dpi - and no cropping would be necessary. If however, you are trying to keep the dpi as is and just crop the center section of each pic so that it will print to 5x7, then that can be done too - although I suspect you won't be happy with the results unless all your pics are perfectly centered and all at the same distance from the subject.

I generally use irfanview (www.irfanview.com) for all my batch process cropping, resampling, etc. It's free and seems to work very well. Others may have other suggestions.

id do it manually so u can keep what needs to be kept. if u use some random program, it might crop off peoples heads or feet.

quick way, make a new window thats 5x7, then drag each image onto it, move till perfect, save then go one step back and drag next shot onto it.

Tim.. right now I only have CS2... don't have enough $ yet for CS3. Can that be done in CS2 ACR?

though i want an automated process.. but i know that a semi automated will be more useful, so I can select where i want it cropped at. any semi-automated action for that though?

Depending on your hardware and the original resolution of the files, you could open say 10 or 20 at a time and crop them. That would do away with the file > open for each one.

Recording your own action to crop or resize the images to 5 x 7 can be done easily in CS2. You just need to process on image from start to finish while recording the steps as an action. Then you use a batch process. Once you point it at your action and the folder where your images are you should be good to go. It's always a good idea to have the output go to a different folder.

Mind you, there is a bit more to setting up the batch process but not much. Adobes own help files can guide you through it successfully.
