Just got this lens in the mail today from B&H. I bought this lens because it can do double duty as a macro and portrait lens.
I should be getting my 52mm Hoya Super Pro1 HMC UV Filter tomorrow or Monday. Not sure if i want to also invest in a circular polarizer for this lens yet. If i do, i plan to follow suit on the CPL as i did with the UV filter.

Here are some very random shots i took this evening after i got home from work. All on a tripod. Yes, the WB is off.

It's a fine lens, and very sharp, even wide open :-)

I wasn't satisfied with 60mm Macro when used as a portrait lens - bokeh @f/2.8 just wasn't what I wanted  . And I opted for 50mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.8 for portrait work.

Thanks for the insight. I guess i'll have to see how much i like it. If it's not what i'm looking for, i guess i'll just have to pick up one of the lenses you've mentioned above, if not both. We'll see.

^^^ Don't get me wrong: I think it's great lens - sharp, light, good AF, build quality, great iQ... I still use it for macro and technical photography. My only complaint is that @f/2.8 DOF isn't shallow enough for portraits (IMO).

Exactly what i was referring to! ;)
I love the lens right now. Great AF and build, etc etc. So i will definitely not be getting rid of it anytime soon. We'll see how it goes.

I just got my Hoya Super HMC Pro1 UV Filter in the mail today from Spotlight Photo on ebay. They are GREAT people to deal with, and have good pricing.
I got click happy and bought a Hoya Pro1 Digital UV Filter from B&H when i bought my EF-S 60mm, so i'll be returning it tomorrow and i'll probably pick up a Hoya Pro1 Digital Circular Polarizing Filter from Spotlight Photo.

I'm bored, so here are pics of the filters with my 60mm.
