I was going to buy 10d, the reports are generall very good. I am now considering a 300d. It's £500 less!! Is there a difference in image quality. Is there anything serious that the 10d has that the 300d hasn't??

What you are paying for on the 10D is a magnesium alloy body, and increased functionality through Flash Exposure Compensation on the camera body and Custom Functions. If you can live with the limitations of the 300D, or are willing to hack the firmware, then get the 300D and use the money you saved on some good glass.
