Sorry, but this sounds like a load of crap to me. If Canon actually leaked details like that ahead of time to dealers, they'd end up on a lot more places on the Internet than just this forum.

DD Photographics aren't an official Aussie dealer, they would have got their info from the States or Japan.

And really, with the 1Ds Mark II on run-out does anyone really not expect a 1Ds Mark III announcement in September? I will bet my left nut on it

Poor Sam, he does not have a clue. Canon does a better job than anyone at not letting anyone know until the announcement date re a new model. Their reps say it is a fireable offense to talk to anyone about new models.

Fireable or not, leaks are constantly happening. I do stuff for which I should be fired every day of the week - the trick is not to get caught.

Sam has the clue, what part of his assertion doesn't gel with you.

Sounds plausible. I wonder whether they will be shipping the 1D Mark III in bulk by then?! :p

why are the Australians getting a $1000 rebate and the US web-sight has nothing. But I would think this is the sign that things are going into motion a pro body with a big rebate.:D

Hey guys, Sam here from DD Photographics.

Yes, it is true we are taking orders for the 1Ds Mark III.

Whilst we do not have a final price or a final release date, we are giving a figure that we believe is very close to what we have heard from our sources.

October has been slated as the date, however, we all being around the industry long enough knows that these things can change.

We are not taking any down payment or such, all we are offering is the opportunity for our customers to be put on a list and be given first opportunity to buy when it is released. We did this with the 1D Mk III, thus it would be remiss of us not to give the opportunity to have "first dibbs" at the 1Ds Mk III.

I hope this clears any misconceptions up.

Hey Sam. Would you mind explaining who Sam from DD is?

Also, if this is legit, are you also taking pre-orders for a new 5D?
