I've had a 500D close up filter for almost a month. So far, I like it a lot. I use it with with my sigma 70-200 EX. At first, I found it to be a pain to work with, but now that I am used to it I am liking it better. Here are some samples.

This shot was taken after dark. I was sitting on a curb in back of hotel talking on my cell when I saw this guy. I used flash assisted autofocus because it was so dark I couldn't see anything through the view finder. The frog is sitting on my Lowepro bag. It hopped up there on its own and posed for a while.

I found this grasshopper in a vacant lot filled with wild daisies. I got a lot of shots of it.

I posted this same photo in a different forum. But since I am talking about my 500D I figured it wouldn't be too terrible to post it again.

Hope this helps anyone that's not sure about buying a close up filter. It's pooring rain outsie and my new 100-400 L just arrived. I needed a distraction or else I might post a bunch of cat photos.

I agree, the grasshopper photo is excellent. Rich colors, sharp focus...nice.
