i had a meeting today at News Limited, Australia
(nothing to do with photography, i'm an IT geek by profession) . i was standing in the lobby talking with my colleague when white lens after white lens kept walking by me
and there were a few film bodies, but mostly 1Ds and 1d (mk1) - and even a d60?! there were big ones (im guessing 70-200's)
, bigger ones (100-400?)
, one gianormous one
, even some small black 'L's
. there must have been 30 or more photographers with cameras and lenses sticking out of their pockets, backpacks, jackets, etc. just casually walking in and out of the building. there were even 2 guys chimping whilst they walked in throught the revolving door
ok, after i realise i'm not dreaming (duh, it's a news and magazine place), i am now in utter disbelief -the white lenses aren't really white anymore, either?!!! they were so unbelievably beat up, like my kid's white sneakers - scuffed, scratched, and unbelieveably unloved
omg, i baby my disposable 50mm 1.8 whenever i put it away. that's nothin... i tuck my bigma into it's case gently after use, petting it and telling it how much i appreciate its help (i don't sing to it anymore, though...).
i must have been distracted mid conversation or dropped my jaw or turned my head or something because my colleague litterally said to me 'which one, the blonde with the big [censored]?'
what? there were girls there??
i didn't notice...
