Yesterday I lucked into a spot where some Tree Swallows were nesting, and I was able to get some close shots of these beautiful birds. In the past, I've had no luck trying to photograph these little beauties.

The first part of the morning was totally fruitless......I never even pressed the shutter once. Then I moved to a completely different location along a slough about 30 miles away from the first spot, and stumbled into these Tree Swallows.....what a pleasant surprise.

Thank you very much for the nice responses. That was the first time I ever really got to shoot any decent pics of tree swallows. I found a tree at one of our wildlife refuges that they were flying around and landing in (several nests). I'm headed back there tomorrow morning to see if I can get a second chance at them.

Excellent shots Mike, especially the last two.

BTW, your images exceed the 800 px in the longest direction. Please resize and replace these with the proper size.

These swallows are fast...I can't see a thing! I take it you are re-sizing and replacing shortly? Look forward to seeing them.
