how do i put my name and other personal info in the exif data, can i have it go there automatically everytime i open a new photo.

It shouldn't be any trouble to record an action, then you could just hit F2 (for example) each time you open an image, and it would put your details in the File Info.

I'm not sure about a more automated way than that ...

The Canon utility software that comes with the 30D and I presume other Canon cameras allows you to embed your name in the camera itself so that every shot will have it embedded in the exif data.

Digital Photo Pro will let you do this to multiple images without actually having to open them.
