After seeing one of my prints turn out like a55,
I decided to look into calibration for my monitor.
I have done some research and decided on
the Spyder2 Express.

I have a couple of questions.

I know I have to turn off any color management programs.

1. Seeing as no problem is selected, should i have to turn off anything else?

2. Another question, I have an emachine E17tw(basically a gateway) 17" montior. Will I have any problem with calibration of this monitor?

3. Do i need to worry about WHERE i get the prints printed off from?

Basically because sometimes I need the prints quickly and have to run to walmart to get them printed off?

I use the Spyder2Express with an older 19 inch CRT monitor.

1. Your Spyder software should create a color profile which will be seen in the shot you posted. You can remove any others you have.

2. I can't imagine why the monitor type would have any effect on the profile.

3. Once your monitor is calibrated you should be able to turn off the auto correct feature used by your image printer. I use a local Costco and they have a downloadable color profile to be used. In this case I convert the image to that profile and turn off auto-correct when I have them printed. Seems to work well. My SmugMug printer (EZPrint?) also has a feature to allow me to turn off auto-correct.

And now that I've typed all that you should know that what I don't know about color calibration would fill a small book.

There may be other calibration software on your PC that is not listed in that shot (to be honest the only thing that should be listed in that shot are monitor profiles anyway). Make sure you go to the startup menu and disable Adobe Gamma if it is there. Otherwise I doubt you have any other software on your machine for calibration.
