OK....stupid question here...and I think I know the answer already but...
I see a lot of images here that have a black/white matte around them. Is this something people do for the web or do people actually print like this as well? I would assume to just get a matte when you frame the image.

I do both. I frequently print my pics in a 2x3 format (approximately 10.2x6.8" with the rest of the 8.5x11" paper with a black border and my logo. Those go into a portfolio that holds 8.5x11" photos only. When I want to print something for my wall, someone else, etc, I print the pic out 8x10 or 8x12 and then put a real matboard around it. You can get matboards cheap at various stores including some Michael's and Pearl art stores, and then cut to your size. This gives you more flexibility with the color of the matboards, the size, the quality, etc.

I'll do both - for clip frames or floating frames I'll use a digital border. for "Regular" frames I will purchase a matt
