Am I reading this correctly? An ET-120 lens hood (external link) that retails for nearly $600? Nice of Amazon to offer free shipping, they aught to throw in a free 580EX flash and the price would seem just about right. I obviously don't own the lens this fits and just ran across this by accident. Am I missing something?

I am sure it might be better priced if someone shopped around, but this is just a hollow plastic white painted tube we are talking about here, right?

I'm pretty sure those ones are carbon fibre... That would explain the price. It's still bloody expensive though...

For the price of the hood and box you could buy yourself a new 30D body and have enough $$ left for a nice dinner for two ;)

This is just one of those items that makes me bang my head into a wall, it is hard to grasp paying 7K for a lens and not getting a hood with it, then finding out you need to plunk down 6 large to protect the glass. Just feels wrong, I guess I am not ready to play with the big boys yet ;)

The ET-120 is the lens hood for the 300mm 2.8 and 400mm f4 DO. Both of these lenses are sold with the hood and case. This is in case you break/lose the one you got.
