First let me say I have been a full time professional for over 30 years. In that view, I have been lurking in the glamour/nude section for several weeks and I am curious . Do the photographers here make a full time living shooting glamour and naked girls?

Dont get me wrong. I would love to figure that one out. Please let me in on your secret. lol

Or alot of the posters on that forum, just advanced amatures and that is all they shoot?

Thanks Francis

Some of the best glamour photographers that I know personally are diversified, they don't do just glamour work. I have done some glamour work but most of these young women are looking to beef up their portfolios and are looking for TFCD/P.

There are some very good photographers that do nothing but glamour work but I think you have to get hooked up with some of the more reputable magazines in order to make a living out of this thing. Being a single focus photographer means that you have to be on the top of your game not only in capturing the right image but being able to market yourself to the right people in the industry.

I know that nearing Christmas and Valentines day there is an increased demand for more of a boudoir type shots that wifes and girlfriends may be giving to their loved ones. This is not your typical nude glamor (though a few have been) work.

We had a fellow posting on here but all I can remember was that his first name was Paul and he did outstanding work and I do believe that he made his living doing this work exclusively. It will be interesting to see if you get any responses from those that do make this a primary focus and do make a living. I still think that a photographer that can offer a wider range of services has a better chance of making a living out of this.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

With so many people wanting to shoot glamour, and of those many are giving away their images just to see them in print, its really hard to make a decent living in glamour. As mentioned, those that do tend to specialize, market regularly to the right people, and have built up a reputation in the industry and get repeat work.

With that said, if you really want in to make a living, study the market in-depth, find out who the shakers and movers are on the client end, shoot what they are looking for, and market yourself to them. Eventually, doors will open. But, its not easy, and will take a great deal of time, so you really need to want it.

Of the photographers I know shooting glamour, thats how they finally make it.
