What a wonderful surprise I had late afternoon in my garden today. I saw this very newly emerged Southern Hawker perched on the top of the security lamp at the end of our garden at about 5.15pm.
Of course it would be at the top of the garage, so out came a garden chair, stood on that and perched very precariously on the water butt lol.
She must have emerged just after lunchtime somewhere in our garden and must have come from our small pond. When we cleaned it out last September, we found 3 larvae, so this must be one of them. She finally flew sometime between 8 and 9pm this evening - and I missed it!
