Well after years and years of pondering if I should, I bit the bullet and purchased a unicycle.

.......now where do I start? :P

Core wise I'm pretty strong, I practice on a swiss ball 1-2 times a week. I can easily jump on a swiss ball on my knees and get balance no problem. The unicycle, is a different story!

I've been told the best way to start is to use a wall, and find out the balance first. But man, 2 hours later, and i'm still trying to find it! Any secrets from the tipsters out there?

Yup, that was the first site I came across prior to my purchase. Its pretty helpful so far. I didn't think they were serious when they said at least 10hrs by a wall. I guess they were right!

Great links, never came across those, I'll take a read.

I want to end up riding like the guy in this video (external link) (specially the guy in the streets of las vegas (about half way thru))

It's very tiring. You're working the pedals all the time. There is no coasting. I haven't been on mine in 20 years, and don't have a hankering to do so either.

Although when I was a teenager I could ride it and juggle 3 balls at the same time. Got a few larfs from my friends.

I always found it easiest starting in the garage door opening, holding onto one of the walls that jut out to make the frame for the big door.

Good luck with it........the saddle sores go away after a couple of days !

LMAO!! I think I'll wait a while before trying to take a shot on it with my 1D. In fact maybe I'll have someone take a picture of me on it instead.

Wow, that's pretty amazing. Pretty brave too, to purchase without trying one. It'd be like me going out and picking up a Boeing 747, "right where do I put the ignition key?"

Schoolyard. Rope and poles>basketball hoops. Think clothesline. You`ll be riding by the end of the day. Bring water.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional

Dang, what a great idea. Didn't even think of something like that. There is a place 2 mins from my house. I'm trying that next week.

as for learning, all the suggestions above are good, practice is the biggest key!
