Which remote (my photo binge for the month)

I'm saving up for a 70-200 f/2.8 (most likely) and so i'm really not spending much money until i get it hopefully sometime next month. Although i worked a few extra hours this week so i guess i can justify buying a remote. I loved having one when i used my old AE-1 and since i got my rebel have been stuck to 30 second shutter times as well as relying on the count down timer to reduce camera shake.

Enough is enough!

But which one shall i get

The RC-5 is too simple so thats kind of out of the question really, but if any of you can offer an opinion, i'd be glad to listen.

How about a wireless remote with a range of 300'? It's a monster though and it ain't cheap.

A friend of mine got a very cool timer remote. It's one of the next things I "need" to buy.. especially if I'm going to try long exposures.

The switch keeps the shutter open until you turn it off. One button is auto focus and the other is the shutter. The cost was very inexpensive and took little time to make.

i really want the wireless one for my 300d, im one of those tech geeks...hehe

but, no one has it in stock...amazon says it has been discontinued. bhp is out of stock...

any ideas?

Unless you plan on being in the photos, I don't see much use for the wireless remote. I bought the RS-60E3 a couple of months ago, I will probably buy the RC-1 at some point in the future. The main reason I bought the RS-60E3 is because the IR sensor is in the front of the camera. It's not a big deal, but I didn't like the idea of reaching around the camera to trigger the shutter.

ritz is out of stock too...and yes, i plan on being in some of the photos...i usually dont have subjects to experiment on other than myself

Spend $1 at a Dollar Store and get a functional shutter release cord for your Canon Digital Rebel! Apparently someone has found that a cheap Nokia hands free cord kit works as a shutter release cord for the Digital Rebel. The Mute button on the cord works as the shutter release. This particular unit was discovered at a local dollar store.

Also, says Antonion Cotto:" Any cell phone hands free with a button on it will work as a remote trigger. I had one already for my cell phone (so it did not cost me anything). All you have to do is cut the wire that goes to the ear piece.

I bought the RS-60E3 about two months ago and use it all the time! Like you, I too was using the timer to prevent camera shake. This remote is well worth the $25 I payed for it. Now I just need a tripod that doesn't suck.

Would the suggestions under this topic apply to a 10D as well, and is there a possibility of causing damage to the camera ?

the 10d uses a different plug. i've been looking for the adapter plug and cord (i should have picked it up when i saw it last time...) as i have the remote for my 300d and the remote for the 10d is about $160 here

so yes, the suggestions are applicable, but you'd need to get the adapter (the plug isn't a standardly available one like the mini-jack...)
