I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT that I love. Today, though, I took some awesome pictures, and after uploading them realized that I had the ISO on 1600, way waaaay too high for the setting in which they were shot. They look terribly grainy and I'm not very happy with it.

How can I fix this? ArcSoft Photo Studio and Digital Photo Professional have nothing to correct excess film grain.

Is there any software I can download? Any plugins for either of these programs?

Thanks in advance.

Try noisewear or noiseninja.

Aside from the ISO, was it properly exposed?

Awesome, will give those a try, thanks!

It was indeed properly exposed.

Depending on how bad it is, you may be able to change to LAB mode and do a small blur on the A/B channels.

Noiseware has a totally free "community edition" that would be perfect for what you're needing... If you're not doing this all the time, don't spring for software. Good Luck!

I take photos at ISO1600 and use them in wedding albums with noise reduction... generally photographers worry more about noise than customer. If they're for yourself then maybe it's worthwhile. Be careful not to be too aggressive you'll lose detail.

That was actually quite helpful!
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I think I'm going to keep trying with a little bit of everything.

So here's what I have so far; it's not perfect, buuuut I think from afar the picture doesn't look all that grainy anymore.
