I own a Powershoot A80. It Suffers of shutter lag in rapid photography.
Is there any setting helpful to this matter (for single shot)?

Also, these kinds of cameras aren't really meant for taking rapid shots of action or anything... that's another issue. 5D Mark II, Leica M8

Preset your camera for the light conditions by making settings or snapping a few photos in advance. This should minimize andy adjustments the camera has to make. There is still plenty of lag though and you will miss some shots.
