My wife and I were sitting on a pier watching the sunset, and I snapped this. I kind of like it, but can't come up with a reason why. Maybe because I know it's my wife's feet? I think they look funny because she's wiggling her toes  I of course shot it in color, but something about the b/w appealed to me more, although you can't see the reflected sky in the water, it looks more like mist or something. Blah blah blah... anyway... keeper?

In my opinion I'd say keep
Like you I can't come up with a reason why I like it but it does hold my attention and gets me asking questions like "why are the feet there" "is the person being pushed" (probably becase the toes are bent back)

It also says to me " go on, you know you want to dabble your toes in the water"

Nice capture Laz

I would say keep.

To me this pictures provokes following thoughts: "Should I put my feet in the water? Yes, ... refreshing but no, ... looks sooo cold and these waterplants. It are waterplants yes, .... or no ... ?
I don't know, maybe I should just sit and watch the sun in the water ... and wait until these "things" are gone.

Probably in the color version it is better visible that it are waterplants.

Thanks David, I appreciate it. A lot of images I see have this effect on me (other than my own mostly)... I like them, but can't give a specific reason why. A possible reason for me liking this may be the simple composition? It looks rather clean, meaning not too much going on to cause distraction, yet enough to hold interest... maybe I'm reaching ?

Thanks again for your opinion.

EDIT:
Lighthunter, just saw your post as I replied. Thank you. Yes, they are some sort of water plant. It seems we had the same opinion of enough being interesting. As you stated, you can tell what they are more clearly in color. Thank you again.

The color version for reference:

I like this a lot! For me it's all about texture and the contrast between the rough wood grain, the denim and the water. The feet add the mystery that the others have mentioned, and the compsition is clean simple and dramatic.

I'd say it goes straight on the wall.

Like it in B&W. Try selective color on the toes for different effect.

Like it. Keeper IMHO.

My thoughts as to why.

good lighting, good exposure.

Range of textures, rough wood, seaweed, water...etc

Strong diagonal of edge of deck, lined approximately with edge of jeans and pattern of seaweed. Ooopsing diagonal of wood grain and joints. Nice that the jeans obsure the vanishing point of the deck.

Rule of thirds obeyed (ish)...toes are about at 1/3

Element of subject mystery, is she about to jump? is something about to jump out of the murky depth?
