I acquired a monopod recently but haven't gone out to test it yet. Seems to be practical for quicker/steadier shots in the moment. 40D, 100mmUSM, 28-135mm USM

I personally find the monopods hard to use for macro unless your subject is at a height which is comfortable for you to work at, now If I had a ball head I might find a difference, but for now, elbows on knees, ground or any nearby support seems to work best and is more adaptable. Thanks for the kind replies. I do have a small ball head on the monopod. I left it slightly loose and just used the pod to help with supporting the camera abit. I was kneeling in our rock garden at the time of the shot. I guess knee pads will be added to the kit list. This shot was about the 10th shot I took with the new lense. The 1st 7 or 8 handheld shots had me shaking my head! Gotta learn a good technique for holding the camera . I can see myself taking quite afew more.
