Anyone using Canon CS8600F scanner

My old scanner has finally been buried--it has died many times in the last year or two. So I'm looking for something new in the $150 range.

I've been considering the Canon CS8600F--the reviews are almost all positive--but I've had a hard time figuring how convenient the unit would be for simple document-copying-to-print and generating emails from document scans, which are two functions I use regularly in addition to scanning slides and prints.

Would appreciate hearing anyone's firsthand experience using the 8600F to copy and email.

Just purchased this scanner. It appears there is a Vista compatiblity issue with this product. The Device Driver will NOT install either from the provided CD or from the download from Canon web-site. Canon Technical people are currently looking into this after I informed them that this product is advertised on Canon web-site as FULLY VISTA COMPATIBLE ! I have installed it onto my other computer running XP Pro. and it works "like a dream" - very quiet in operation and the results are excellent.

I got the scanner a few days ago and, running XP, the performance is excellent. Have scanned 35mm negatives, slides, and prints--all with first-rate results, at least by my "hobbyist" standards.
