photoshop consistancy!!

Hey, Ive just actually really starting to take post processing seriously. That is not saying much, but it is a start for me. I am wondering how do photographer's keep all their photos they use the same. Meaning taking 30 shoots from a model shoot outside where lighting may change, its hard to reproduce the same lighting/contrast, color for each photo in photoshop...
I end up having photos look a little lighter, darker, different color..and its the same shoot!
any help would be appreciated.

You can batch process the photos if they are from the some shoot to maintain consistency. I believe DPP, ACR and RSE/RSP all allow user to copy the recipe used on a photo and apply it to another photo.

Yes, it's difficult all right, but not impossible. It will take you lots and lots of practice. I recommend first getting really good with Levels, and after that, with Quick Masks.

Off course, it also helps a lot to take the shots as much alike as possible: Control the lighting on location.
No amount of photoshopping is going to make an overcast shot look the same as a sunlit one...

You got some nice work Damo, where did you learn it?

Well, I'm not a photographer, I'm in the publishing industry. A few years ago I got a job with the Newspaper here in Brisbane, where they have a whole department of people like me. They've got some absolute Photoshop gurus working there! As I learnt the skills, and my work improved, I got to move on to glossy magazines.

So yeah, my skills come from four years of day-in-day-out practice. Between 50 & 100 images every day, some lovely shots from very skilled pros, and some awful shots from ham-fisted amateurs!

Nice portfolio, some very neat restorations...
However, I don't see a shot that got from 'overcast' to 'sunny'
(At least, the way I meant it)
I must say, the input you got from the 'professional photographers' leaves quite a bit to be desired...

Yes, well, I'm working with them, and they're getting better ...
Natural light is a beautiful thing, but they seem to love it a little too much.
