and come thursday i shall be begining a month long holiday in nashville, TN.

well, i've got to pass the time. Aside from taking photos of anything and everything, and shopping whilst everythings so cheap (a pound i nearly 2.3 dollers) what should i do.

What is there to do in nashville to keep myself occupied. where should i visit. what is good basically.

Music! Lots of live music. Country & western is the prominent venue, but there's plenty of other styles including rock (old & new) and rhythm & blues.

If R&B music suits you, be sure to catch the Stacy Mitchart Band at B. B. King's Blues Bar on 2nd Avenue North in Nashville. Check the band's web site at http://www.stacymitchhart.com/ (external link) for schedules. One of my favorites - I listened to them whenever I went to Nashville. I hope to see them again some day!

Also, take a day or two to visit Chattanooga, about 2 hours away. Downtown Chattanooga has plenty of attractions including a scenic waterfront along the Tennessee River, the Tennessee Aquarium, and a piece of America's history. There are a number of major Civil War battle sites near Chattanooga - The Chickamauga Battlefield and Lookout Mountain among them.

If you like white-water rafting, be sure to spend a day on the Ocoee River, east of Chattanooga. If the season's right, the river provides quite a ride.

I'm sure that a couple of Nashville natives will give you much more information.

I've only been there once. But you absolutely must go downtown to the traffic circle (roundabout)to see the giant sculpture "Musica" There is a tambourine involved. :D

Have fun...it's a great city, I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.

Nashville is a beautiful old city, most of the buildings are very old and full of character. 2nd Ave. is a must, Expect to see lots of street musicians if you are going to be there on a weekend. Enjoy your Trip.

Just make sure you go around the "wrong way", i.e. counter clockwise, if you're going to be driving. ;)

Go to a nice restaurant and see what real portions are! You Europeans are all thin. Everything here is "Biggy" sized and really kind of overwhelming. And the next time you go to a 7-11, ask for the largest drink. ;) Those things can water a family of 8 all day.

Call the stadium up first. If you tell them you are coming from another country and that's the gear you are carrying, they may say okay.

 The 'gotta see it' reference was for the statue 'Musica', not for the roundabout.
