Well, I was cruising along with my brand new Dell and Vista OS installing my new CS3 Extended and Lightroom 1.1 anticipating working on my 800 pictures of a recent trip to Mexico and low and behold I can not get Lightroom (or CS3, Windows Explorer, or any other program) to recognize the eFilm USB 2.0 CF card reader and SD Extreme III 4.0GB card.

I have checked the forums, Adobe, and Canon. Downloaded Camera Raw 4.1 and still no go in recognizing this stupid card. I can put the card on my MS XP machine and it recognizes the card and displays the .CR2 files.

What am I missing here? I know Vista has been a pain in the behind for some but others have no problems.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Uninstall your usb drivers. Reboot. Plug in the card reader.

Try it a couple times. If no luck, buy a new card reader or trade someone.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.

If all else fails, copy the files manually to where you want them on your HDD them import them in their current location into LR. Once there you can move and rename them within LR.

PROBLEM UPDATE - I went back to my XP machine and loaded the CR2 raw files onto my external HDD. I plugged the external HDD on the Vista machine and Lightroom picked them up perfectly.

So I must have a CF card reader problem and I need a new Vista compatible reader. What CF card reader are you guys using that works with Vista?

Thank you to you guys that replied to my original post.
