Had a tough time chasing down this spider and would like to know what kind it is. Funny enough that it was watching my every move, if I stepped right or left, it turned to face me. C&C welcome.

Brian your link showed me the spiders of Kaweah River Delta Region which is no where near me (I am in South Texas). A quick google search of 'Phidippus apacheanus' brought up this website: http://bugguide.net/node/view/27092/bgpage Robert | Gear |

I think Brian has nailed the ID I note on that link it says that they can cause a painful bite, I seriously doubt it. Dave Thanks for the comments. Also, I don't think I will try to find out if the bite is painful or not. skylab wrote in post #3542955 Watch out he might jump on you. Lovely shots well done. Thank you. When I was taking the pictures, I really thought the spider would jump on me. It actually would also raise its two front legs when I would move towards it. Robert | Gear |

A quick google search of 'Phidippus apacheanus' brought up this website: http://bugguide.net/node/view/27092/bgpage This species is the closest relation due to the entire back of the spider being orange and where its found...near Texas so far in Oklahoma under 'Data' tab. Maybe I'll submit these shots to get them confirmation of the spider in Texas. This is the site I found. http://spiders.entomology.wisc.edu …pus_apacheanus/index.html Alby
