I just purchased Photomatix and already have PSE5. Photomatix only allows to save to JPG, BMP or TIFF. I don't know which file is better for manipulation purposes, BMP or TIFF. If you tell me what you think and why I would be eternally gratefull. Okay, not for eternity. Probably a shorter time than that. :D

2 Samuel 9:7-8, "So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.” Then he bowed himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look upon such a dead dog as I?”

tiffs are 16 bit and bmps are 8 bit. So I'd save a copy of each. You can convert bit depth in Photoshop. Then save as jpeg if you like.

Don't save in jpeg, at least not your master "save it forever" file. Jpeg (external link) is a lossy file format, tiff (external link) is a lossless file format. /Dan
