Order Back-order or out of stock

Hi all,

I have a quick question: if i order an item from one of those online stores or dealers and i was going to pay by money transfer or check and i called them and got an invoice or order number, but before i go to pay the money by one of two ways i mentioned the item is no longer out of stock or back-order, so will this item be availabe for me if i pay or it is out of stock even i got an order number?

I think I understand your question. If an item is out-of-stock or back-ordered, nearly all online shops will still let you order the item. Once the shop restocks the item, they will send out your order. The better online shops won't actually charge you until they have the item to ship to you. But SOME shops will charge you as soon as you make the order whether the item is in-stock or not. These kinds of shop are a pain to deal with because they have your money and you have no idea when they will ship you your order (if ever). This can be especially bad if you pay with a money order or check because it can take them a long time to issue you a refund if they never get the item back in stock again. My advice is to wait until the item is in-stock, carefully read the shops policies and look the shop up at resellerratings.com to see if they're honest and reliable. Also look out for restocking fees.

Thank GOD i didn't send my money yet, and i will check the site you gave, i think i have to check my credit card issues so it is better to buy or order an item directly by credit card than waiting with money order or check then the item goes under out of stock suddenly any time then i will waste my money or waiting for very long time not sure if i will get my order or i will lose my money.

Too bad that i am looking for an item very much and it is out of stock in all shops only one shop is available but i will check this shop if trustyworth or not, and i hope i can get the item before August or at least before i travel within 5-8August.

If I'm in doubt about the available of a product from a company, I normally call them and ask them to give me the serial number of the item. No money payed until they have the serial number of "my" product.

This is normally not because I believe the company will steal my money, but to improve my chances of buying from a company that will really send out the items the same day instead of the next week.

And what a serial number of an item help with?
I called them to place my order and give me an information for bank account to send money, so even with this acll they can't garantee that the item will be available for me even it is last piece and someone order it online by credit card? they should lock this item for me so no another one will buy it until i cancel my order or they cancel it due to not paying for long time or so, but to place my order then they give one item of my order to another is not good service, there are some situations that i don't have a credit card or i have an issue with the bank so only by money sending or check i can pay, what do you think?

I've never used Calumet Photo so I can only go by how others have rated them. ResellerRatings rates them good overall but not quite as good over the past 6 months. They are a member of the Better Business Bureau, however, which is a very good sign. I'd advise posting to the Marketplace forum here and see if anyone has any experience with using them.

calumet is pretty well regarded around here. wrt to your question it's different from store to store but ordering something does not 'reserve' an item for you. for example if two people order something on the same day (1 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon) but there is a problem processing payment for the first person the second person would get their item first. it's usually the order that makes it to the shipment dept first, and all the places i know of will not send an order to shipping until payment is all sorted.

I did many searches and i uses all my ways, and got messages sent to me from them, so tomorrow i will see all my order shipping status, Finally i got my orders shipped and i have to play a "WAITING" game as usual.
