yea i like the gear as much as taking photos :) so what's wrong with getting interested in new gear when it comes out?

it seems to upset people that some may like the gear as well as the photography.

That is true. I know many people are gear freakes & buy all the latest gizmos just so they can say they have one.
I'm not one of those. I use things till they die, then buy a replacement that I know will last. I have my 40D because my 350D was broken after my brother dropped it.

Im busy reading up on the 800 F5.6 at the moment

I know I have asked this a few times & never really got an answer, but Tony.. What do you photograph that needs an 800 mm lens?

I have seen several photos of the moon from you, but apart from that you are not a motorsport photographer, you are not a sport photographer and you are not a wildlife photographer.
Or is it just so you can say you have a bigger one than anyone else?

Moon is better with a telescope, and cheaper.

...people are hand holding the 800 and getting good results.

Are these people called The Hulk?

You didn't actually think he was that well hung did you?

I guess there's always an element of 'man likes toys, must have now' but the obsessing some people do on this forum over gear is frickin ridiculous. It's just a bloody camera, they're all ugly, they're all made of plastic somewhere and can all take equally ac or sh*t shots. :sigh:

Cheers, Dave.

hmm starnow is annoying. I just get spam emails. I find that some models are just sooo professional and they are on magazine covers etc. And I feel as if they would want hardcore pro's.

My friends are starting to pull out of shoots. So I am getting a bit concerned :(

But ill try find out ways. Just need to build some contacts somehow.
