true. I feel like packing it in aye. Ill just wait on it.

I just got told by one of my models to remove all of her bikini shots. Which is fine. I did it right away. I told her it is not the style I wanted to pursue. But she had concern for it being on my flickr and being self conscious or something.

This sort of threw me off, put me in a foul mood aye. I need to find some sort of common ground.

And quite rightly too.. ANYONE can view your flickr pages...

Always make sure you get them to sign a model release giving you permission to plaster their photos all over internet or they are quite within their rights to ask you to remove them.

The way to start out is to get your name out there.. (I feel like broken record ).
Offer to do photos for friends.. if they like.. they will tell their friends and it flows from there... If you go "hunting" for people - they're going to get the wrong idea and think that you're just some creepy guy wanting to take their photo.. you need to think it out properly.. Offer some incentives... if they refer a friend they can get a free shoot or something out of it ...

Advertise somewhere that you're wanting to boost your portfolio - your MSN, your facebook your blog.. anywhere... Put some posts on some relevant forums.. who knows.. you'll figure it out.

And to cover your costs offer to do a session for $30-$40 and they will get all images on a CD... dont start doing it for free or you'll set a bar and wont be able to get out of it - just like Tony (no offence). Perhaps dont go hunting for the "pro" models - find every day people who would like some nice photos of themselves.

A bunch of Canon bits and pieces.

Thanks for that lil_miss. I like the idea of not trying to hunt for them. Its not my style. I am a real passive sort of person. So that sounds good. I am going to take some candid's with my 135mm in the mean time :p

Matt you cant sid on your butt either expecting them to arrive.
Lil Miss was saying HUNTING you still have to be active. Get your own domain
so they see you as a serious photographer not just a GWAC. (guy with a camera)

ahh i see. Yeah I came across an advert in the net guide about this site:

2day.com

And you can build a website for $99 a year. And they have templates and all that stuff. But I dont have much knowledge of it. So I may give them a call to find out. Seems to be some kind of MB usage thing.

That is a good idea Tony.

They said exactly what I was going to say.

DON'T sit on your bum & wait for it to happen coz it won't!

Get a domain and a web gallery where people can look at your photos.

Make a business card with your web address on it, and just say to people, they should look there & if they are interested contact you. It works well. Shows your serious and not a pervy creep (well hoefully makes them think that you ar not ;) )
Just remember if you want it to happen you have to make it happen.

Yes there is a lot of work involved, but it is fun.
It has to be something you enjoy and do from your heart otherwise it won't work.

Also you need to like people and be tolerant (Don't you Tony)

People skills need to be in line with the relaxed personality. One that just goes with the flow. Not easy rattled.
