I have the spyder 2 express working on WS2008 64bit no problem.

More info | Sep 03, 2008 00:16 | #3187 The main reason I installed WS2008 is to make use of Hyper-V virtualisation (for study/lab/play), which requires a 64bit host. It performs much better than any of the virtualisation products that run on top of Vista or XP.

However for the apps to do the same they must be written for 64bit. It does not mean your PC will go faster. Its still a good yr away from been common place.
