Gouba have you tryed the 70-200 on a 5D.

My most favorite lens of all time was Sigma 50-500 on 30D. Great range. Alas it was crap on the 5D and 1Dmk2.

How much IQ degradation would you get with a 400 5.6 and a 1.4x tele, and does the extra reach make up for it?

And my official "wishlist"

24-105 F4L
430EX speed light
135mm F2L

This is what I need and can realistically afford. Will be trying my best to get these this year if not in the future :)

And a photo from last Saturday.

Its a new community that is being built in Mt Wellington. While I like the lighting (personally). I don't like the composition...

speaking from a 100-400 point of view(which is was less sharp than the 400 5.6) no the 1.4 tele doesnt degrade the IQ alot at all, reach is quite impressive also

I know exactly where that is, and exactly how flat and boring, and completely unphotogenic it is.

And yet you turned it into a really cool photo.

B@$tard. :lol::lol:

So long and thanks for all the flash

Oh what happened to the ducking and hiding about joining that site?

that photo is not bad, good lighting and good composition.

however the subject matter doesn't lead to much interest in the photo itself. over exposure of the sun on the left of the photo is distracting and some items in the photo such as the power pole need to be edited out.

So if I went from a 1.6 crop camera with the 400mm to a 1.3 crop with a 400mm + a 1.4x then I wouldn't lose out too much, if at all, on IQ?

I'm sure Mat us quite aware what is in progear for sale. They probably have drool containers outside the front window just for when he comes along ;)

*jking Matt :p

umm I've done this image before, but this is a similar scene, but done with a different series of shots, which I've only had a go at processing tonight.
