Photography for me is not about rendering a picture so much that it looks like something from king kong, the terminator or perhaps Lord of the Rings. I think that needs to be left with CGI film makers.

I have watched the history of photography. And its about documenting. Photographing something so you can see it later on. I like to photograph and see a photo as to how I saw it at the time.

Riiiiight ... so do you see in black and white?!? As a large amount of your images are converted to black and white ... seems odd to me. Do you ever actually think before posting? LOL

Not what my computer wants to see it as.

Hmm, obviously I have much more control over my computer than you do as I get my computer to output what I want, not what it wants. As already stated, I see myself as a digital artist more than a photographer, I havn't seen too many straight out non digitally altered photos that have caught my eye. Saying that I think a HUGE amount of people who learn photoshop go WAY over the top too so can see where people are coming from there too.

I do actually remember sancho's photos more than anyone elses actually. Gosh I never realised that. Well... I dont know anymore. I dont think ill ever understand photography at this day and age :)

Sorry sancho... Its your style:cool:

LOL, thats fine, I don't mind if you don't like it, I don't like LOTS of artworks, it just annoyed me they way you belittled anyone who does anyform or digital processing.

I actually often wonder if I am in the wrong forums sometimes as perhaps I should be in a more digital art related one, but then you get all the people who have found some new photoshop filter and insist on posting 17 'desktops' of the same random pattern CGI image but in a different colour :| I seem to be stuck somewhere in the middle.

BUt not all my images are heavily processed just a selected few, and its not like I take a photo and go hmmm, now what effect can i apply to this. I have a image in my head and know how i want it to look, and its then a matter finding the right place, lighting conditions and willing model to make the image a reality.

Well I am over talking about.. well... Trying to find out the idea of photography. It bloody annoys me. I just like to take photos.

I find it rather fustrating when people do photography for a pat on the back or some cheap comments...

hmm

Matt if you really agreed with the above stament you wouldnt have a flicker account. Does it not make you feel great when someone posts a comment saying how great that shot was.

Hell feed my ego it needs it  You want approval as much as the next photograher.

Artists need to view their work not hide it. I for one get a great thrill when you guys say nice things about my work. Yet im happy to accept that sometimes it is crap and im honoured that people can feel comfortable to say it with out fear of me tossing my toys out the cot.

i don't bother saying too much about peoples work any more in the GKPE forums because of the above 8(ish) posts.... someone posts a photo, someone else then offers cc (or in this case does not offer it)then the op throws toys around the place and this place turns into a pissing match......

and tony you never commented on your make over shot...

Oh Chris im so sorry was i meant to :p

I was at work and screen is not calibrated. Pops a lot more does seem a bit "pink"

Hey if people want to throw your toys out fine, it will not stop me from commenting. I think people need to take prozac before posting :)

Edit: I think Sancho was with in his rights to ask why no one comments, just a Matt was within his right to voice his opinon.

specifically on your photos Mark - the stylized processed stuff with the high sats, high contrast etc - i just don't like that type of work - not just yours but in general. granted it has its place as does hdr, selective colouring, etc

Your landscape above has no interest to hold me in the picture. its a body of water with a few trees. its a nice chocolate box image shot - better than a tourist shot but not a great landscape shot. to improve the shot i would try and add some foreground interesting and something that leads you into the rest of the shot.
