I have been trying to post a picture but have run into a snag. When I upload the photo, I get the warning about it being too large and it has to be scaled down. How do I reduce the size? Can it be done in DPP? I don't have any other post processing software such as Photoshop. I am on a trial basis with Smugmug, can it be done there? Or is the only answer PP software?:(

If you're totally stuck, and using Windows, go to this link:

http://www.microsoft.com …owertoys/xppowertoys.mspx (external link)

... and download "ImageResizer" (fifth from the bottom on the right hand side).

Yes it can be done in DPP. At the bottom of the window that opens when you click Convert and Save select the Resize box and make the longest side 600 pixels. Save as Jpg and to get under the 80 Kb limit on this board you will have to make the compression around 5. Deselecting Embed Profile will make the file smaller but be sure you are outputting sRGB (Menu bar/Adjustment).

If you are using SmugMug stop uploading images to the POTN server. Instead embed the images by using this icon:

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'text/html'
. When the new window pops up enter the URL of the image. Remember to keep your images at 800 pixels on the longest side. I believe SmugMug offers resized versions of your originals.
